Visual inspection for damage, routing and corrosion, check brake fluid level

Brake hoses and lines.


Check the brake fluid level. I don't recommend complying with the workshop manual recommendation to top off the brake fluid. All that will do is make a mess by over flowing the reservoir when you compress the brake cylinder pistons to replace the brake pads. If the brake fluid is below the minimum line, you should look very very hard to find a lieak;
