Wiper Blade Replacement

Although not listed in the maintenance schedule, I've found it useful to change the wiper blades every 15k miles.

Tools needed:

None.

Parts needed:

996-628-901-08 Wiper blade set $22.22

Procedure:

Note that the two wiper blades are different. The curvier one goes on the right side of the car, the straighter one goes on the left side of the car.

Extend the wiper arm off of the glass.

Rotate the wiper blade as shown and squeeze the clip.

Then push the blade down the wiper arm until it comes free of the bent end.

Put the new blade on by sliding it up on the arm until it catches.

I noticed that Porsche has redesigned the wiper arm to have a type of air dam on the driver's side. I'm pleased that this seems to hold the blade onto the glass at higher speed so there are less streaks right in front of the driver's eyes (on a left hand drive car like in the US) where it's most critical. Here's a picture showing the difference between the old and the new style.
